At the beginning of the year I decided to dedicate myself to a year long project.
Shoot, Edit & Post one photo a day for the year of 2012.
I themed my project “365 Shades of Grey” All my shots in this project would be edited in Black & White. Found at #saleigh_365
I found myself struggling when i hit the 1/3 mark & fell behind. Through posting my work, artistic influence & sharing my story through the ABC OPEN as a guest blogger, i managed to push through the artist “road block”. I am currently onto another “Semi-Project” to self-motivate.

At last I have caught up with my “365 Shades of Grey” project.
So to keep myself motivated I went on an “instawalk” coined “To The Shed & Back” and took 16 photos.
Over the next 16 days I will be posting both the “black and white” and “colour” edits of these 16 photos that you can follow on Instagram at #saleigh_16
The point of this process is to show the edit techniques of my “365 Shades of Grey” and the colour behind them.
Here are the first two shots edited from the above grid.

When it comes to a year long project, we do what we must to self-motivate!! I know i have the next 16 days covered…. after that – well where ever the wind blows me….

There is an exciting Competition run by @althotel in conjunction with @joshjohnson on Instagram at the moment.
Alt Hotels are piecing together a 15×12 foot digital art mural to be displayed at the Alt Hotel in Toronto.
15 Days 15 Colours 15 Prizes
Every day between May 1st – 15th @joshjohnson reveals the colour of the day. You then post photos reflecting this theme & then @joshjohnson selects his Top Ten – these winners will be featured in the #altexpo digital work of art.
Yesterday’s colour was Pink

Although my photo didn’t make the top ten, this is such an exciting competition and all I saw was PINK all day!!
This is truly an exciting event and with only 2 days left, get involved if you can!
A massive shout out to Alt Hotels for involving Instagram and Mobile Photography, this initiative has seen over 70,000 posts in the tag.
Today’s colour has been announced
ORANGE
Tag your orange pics on Instagram, New or Old to #altexpo & #orange
I am off to go shoot the world through my ‘Orange’ coloured glasses!!!

I just downloaded this filter app. Free.
Truth be told, I have a ridiculous number of photography & editing apps. I have my favorites & others sit dormant in a folder, unloved & unappreciated.
So the question is… Quantity or quality?
Do you master a few apps to create your style or do you constantly shake things up a bit and try different editing apps & techniques?
I say if it’s free, then grab it! It could come in handy on a rainy, uninspiring day

At the beginning of the year I decided to apply myself to a year long challenge. I would shoot daily. Post daily. Create daily.
I themed my challenge “365 Shades of Grey” I would edit my shots in black & white as a way to enhance my editing techniques on the iPhone & to push myself creatively. You can follow my jouney on Instagram at #saleigh_365
I have been keeping up to date with this and as we reach the 5th month I am feeling myself challenged!!
So I thought I would share a few of my photos from my journey so far, as a way to inspire myself to catch up, as I am currently now 7 days behind!!!
Right then!! Back to the shooting & editing & then inevitably, spamming my uploads all over my social networks!!

Mrs Jones Cafe ~ High Tea held for “Taste Great Southern 2012″
Tiered platters of Macaroons, Tart-lets, Eclairs & Cupcakes as well as gourmet sandwiches & “Burch Family Wines” bubbles was the menu of the day for the guests attending Mrs Jones Cafe High Tea.

Mrs Jones Cafe’s classy atmosphere, friendly staff & talented owner/chef Alison Osborne had a magnificent day hosting this successful event. The guests came dressed for the occasion, formal, classy & some eccentric. The wine flowed, the last crumbs devoured & the sensational coffee saw all the guests departing with full bellies & wide smiles.
I felt very honoured to be able to shoot such a colourful & classy event!!
Mrs Jones Cafe is located at 12 Mount Shadford Road Denmark, Western Australia. Open from 7am daily for breakfast & lunch & open Friday & Sat nights for Dinner. Please call (08) 98481882 for bookings & inquiries.
